• Medicare will be stronger, not weaker, under HR 3200, the reform
legislation now before Congress.
• Reform that includes a public option will give Americans of all ages
the choice of health care coverage along the lines of Medicare.
• Reform with a public option will curb insurance company profiteering
at the expense of the sick.
For seniors, the reform legislation will:
* gradually eliminate the "doughnut hole"
* eliminate co-pays for all preventive care
* penalize hospitals that discharge patients prematurely, causing a
high rate of readmissions
* reward medical providers based on results, not on the number of
tests and procedures.
And shame on the con artists who spew out lies about "death panels" to
frighten older Americans and sidetrack the health care reform the
nation needs!
